| Monticello, is located in south-central Kentucky and is the county seat of Wayne County. Monticello is 105 miles south of Lexington, Kentucky; 121 miles northwest of Knoxville, Tennessee; 170 miles southeast of Louisville, Kentucky; 145 miles northeast of Nashville, Tennessee; and 182 miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio. Wayne County, which covers a land area of 459 square miles, is located in portions of both the Mississippi plateau and the Eastern Kentucky Coal Fields Regions of the state.
